People of Naoussa and the voluntary group “Corsairs” would like to invite you to explore our neighborhood, through a two-day festival of folk culture, history and piracy on 22nd and 23rd of August.
This year, we celebrate the “Novena of our Lady” and the fifty years of “Corsairs’ Night Event” including lots of activities such as games, dancing, guided tours, dancing lessons and exhibitions. In the treasure chest of two-day festival it is hidden folklore, faith, nature and tradition for anyone who is looking for the genuine beauty in our cosmopolitan, fishing village.
The two-day festival ends with the extraordinary privateer “Resalto” on 23rd of August. At the sunset, corsairs raid in the port along with bonfires and cries interrupting the feast of the village. They pour out in the alleys and grab women. The castle goes up on flames; the bells are ringing and the violins stop the music playing until the time that the counterattack of the islanders, which means the end of the raid and the begin of the feast.
