Night falls over Athens just before the major travel and tourism international exhibition of Philoxenia in Thessaloniki. This will be the 24th Philoxenia and the 18th for Travelling.
Every year participants and exhibitors, drop what they are doing and take the plane, car or train and head for Thessaloniki.
Mykonos is an island in the complex of islands called Cyclades on the east coast of mainland Greece. About 50 years ago Mykonos was discovered by the jet set and ever since it remains in the hearts of any one who is some one, from all over the world. Mykonos cannot be described using words. The picture above gives you just a gimps of what its all about. The night life is out of this world. There is a place for every one – young, old, family, singles, straight, gay, etc. And when we talk about service and quality – they invented the words.
UNWTO launches its 2008 Photo Competition around this year’s World Tourism Day (WTD) theme: “Tourism Responding to the Challenge of Climate Change”. This competition is part of the year-long campaign highlighting the call for action towards a climate neutral planet.
Athens is the largest city and capital of Greece. As of the 2004 Olympic Games, Athens has significantly improved its infrastructure – new airport El. Venizelos (AIA), new metro, new tram, new Suburban rail, Buses, Electric railway, Railways, highways and ferry connections. You can get around – and as if all that was not enough, the taxi in Athens is probably the cheapest taxi worldwide. The same picture is with telecommunications – land lines, mobiles, Internet. Even the Acropolis, the symbol of Athens, has been restored / maintained.
If you have a long time to come to Athens, the picture of Athens has significantly changed. I can dare say that you will be surprised.

When you think of Greece, the things that come to your mind are: the Acropolis, Olympic Games, the Greek Gods and Greek Mythology, Santorini, Alexander the Great, Socrates, Plato, Homer, Odyssey, Hippocrates and medicine, Greek food, olive oil and naturally the Greek Islands.
When you think of Greek Islands you would never imagine that they are over 2000!!! Woooow!!! You need a life time (at least) to visit them all.
Not all of them are inhabited. I would even say that the vat majority are totally uninhabited. Totally unspoiled, untouched – perfect for vacationing.
The way to go to most of these islands is by private boat, sailing, etc. but most people who come to Greece go to the islands were you have the Greek color, tradition, sites etc.
These are: Santorini, Mykonos, Crete, Corfu, Rhodes, Zante, Kefalonia, Ithaca, Kos, Ios, Naxos, Paros, Lefkas, Patmos, Lesvos, Spetses, Hydra, Tinos – these are more well known Greek Islands.
The less known but beautiful Greek Islands are: Folegandros, Amorgos, Fourni, Skiathos, Skopelos, Kalymnos, Kimolos, Kissamos, Koufonissia, Kythira, Milos, Sifnos, Serifos, Anafi, Donoussa and many many many more.
A group of well educated people, all with the same concerns, put their forces together to inform about heart disease and ways to prevent it. Probably you have heard this many times, but you haven’t heard of doing it in style – with a cruise to Turkey and the Aegean Islands.
Humanity suffers from various diseases but the one which we work on getting, is the heart. This takes time and effort – the basic elements which contribute to heart disease are: stress, eating habits, life style, smoking, etc., etc., etc.
We all know that, but we don’t take the time to actually let this information seep in and work on it. So the people of HeartLine (that is what they call the organization) decided to take a more hands on approach – and that is to persuade people to go on a cruise and tell them about how to change their life style and while on the cruise they can actually implement all what is said. Just to show them how easy it is.
I just love going on cruises. They are probably the best vacations to go on. You don’t have to worry about anything. You just have to be on time at the dinner table if you want to have dinner when everyone else is having dinner, not that you can’t find something to eat. You probably have several options at the same time. This just goes to tell you that you have nothing to worry about, everything is taken care of for you…you just have to decide what you want to do. Play a game, eat pizza, watch a movie, have a drink, exercise, relax, swim, dance, the list goes on and on. That’s when you are on board cruising.What happens when you are at port?
Since the end of the 2007 Summer season, many travel and tourism events / exhibitions have taken place. The one that leads the pack is ITB – Berlin which is going to take place on March 5-9, 2008 at Berlin, Germany.
There is saying that “a picture is a million words”, when even if we were to try to take a picture of ITB-Berlin it could not fit in one, two or a thousand pictures. This exhibition is BIG and international.
When you visit Hollywood its a must you get the map that has the celebrities homes or the tour that gives you all that. Or when you visit Austria you have to visit the birthplace of Mozart and where he worked. Just imagine going to London and not going to the Globe Theatre or otherwise called Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre. This is just a few of the numerous places one must visit: because it is a must or because there is nothing else to see or because you feel that it is a tribute to the great people who lived there.
What we all try to figure out through these visits is – what was/is the environment that gave birth to such geniuses.
