When you think of Greece, the things that come to your mind are: the Acropolis, Olympic Games, the Greek Gods and Greek Mythology, Santorini, Alexander the Great, Socrates, Plato, Homer, Odyssey, Hippocrates and medicine, Greek food, olive oil and naturally the Greek Islands.
When you think of Greek Islands you would never imagine that they are over 2000!!! Woooow!!! You need a life time (at least) to visit them all.
Not all of them are inhabited. I would even say that the vat majority are totally uninhabited. Totally unspoiled, untouched – perfect for vacationing.
The way to go to most of these islands is by private boat, sailing, etc. but most people who come to Greece go to the islands were you have the Greek color, tradition, sites etc.
These are: Santorini, Mykonos, Crete, Corfu, Rhodes, Zante, Kefalonia, Ithaca, Kos, Ios, Naxos, Paros, Lefkas, Patmos, Lesvos, Spetses, Hydra, Tinos – these are more well known Greek Islands.
The less known but beautiful Greek Islands are: Folegandros, Amorgos, Fourni, Skiathos, Skopelos, Kalymnos, Kimolos, Kissamos, Koufonissia, Kythira, Milos, Sifnos, Serifos, Anafi, Donoussa and many many many more.
Greek Island Cruises and Shore Excursions
Cruising throughout the world is totally different when cruising the Greek Islands. And when we say Greek Island we talk about 3000!…and Greece being the cradle of civilization, it means that each island has a history of its own.
So, a cruise really means that the cruise boat simply takes you from one island to another, were you, the cruiser has to get off the ship an tour the island and try to figure it out. Why did they build the town were they did? Why did they use the specific architecture? What are the locals habits? And what are these relics doing here? The questions are just countless.
